Declan O’ Leary is Head of Coaching Development at Coaching Ireland-A Unit of Sport Ireland. His current work includes developing a best practice approach to coaching children, aligning the Coaching Development Programme
for Ireland with the National Framework of Qualifications and working with a range of National Governing Bodies in the development of their coaching systems. Declan also plays the role for Sport Ireland in the development of its approach to the Disability
Sport Sector; as well as supporting Sport Ireland in developing its approach to education and training in the Sport Sector.
Declan previously oversaw the Coaching Services Team which works to develop coaching best practice guidelines and support materials, supporting National Governing Bodies in rolling
out the Coaching Development Programme of Ireland and in supporting coaches in their work with the children, players and athletes that they coach.
Declan has a MSc. in Sport and Exercise Science, a BA in Physical Education and has previously worked with the IRFU and as a PE teacher.
