Lecturer – Health and Leisure Department
The Institute of Technology, Tralee is in existence since 1977 providing third level courses in the areas of engineering, business and health and social sciences. The Health and Leisure programme was initiated in 1993, underpinned by the philosophy that physical activity plays a key role in the wellbeing, holistic health, and empowerment of citizens. Hence the opportunity to participate in physical activity should be regarded as a human right. In recognition of the contribution of the Health and Leisure Department to inclusive physical activity, IT Tralee was designated a UNESCO chair charged with transforming the lives of people with disabilities, their families, and communities, through physical education, sport, recreation and fitness.
In addition to providing sports training and competition, Special Olympics Ireland also incorporates a range of other support opportunities including Athlete Leadership, Health and Wellbeing and a Volunteer Programme.
